Why One Period Can Change Your AI Detection Score
What Actually Removes AI Patterns From Your Writing
I didn’t plan to write an essay about AI-pattern text detection. It was an accident.
Like many people, I use AI to help draft essays. The results are clear and structurally sound. Then I run them through Grammarly.
Long sections were flagged as “AI-pattern text.” I rewrote sentences, changed the structure, and tightened the language, but Grammarly continued to highlight long sections as AI-generated text; some new sections were flagged, while others were cleared.
What was missing was consistency in the criteria for AI-generated text.
What did work was strange enough that I had to stop and figure out why.
Rewriting doesn’t help the way you expect
I rewrote entire paragraphs, adding new sentences, different wording, and varying lengths. Grammarly still flagged them. Sometimes the rewritten paragraph was flagged in the same place as the original.
