Eliminating bias does not require removing standards.

Most of us envision the interaction between humans and artificial intelligence as a data processing transaction. However, every response from a chatbot or similar AI model is an interpretation.

These models were developed using billions of human-generated statements from countless eras and cultures. The developers of the model made decisions regarding which data to use and which to ignore.

In addition, the developer’s decisions about how to weigh one data set against another were made based on their own cultural and social norms. The end user then interprets the reply through their unique viewpoint and understanding of the world. This is called Hermeneutics, the theory and methodology of interpretation.
